Hi, I'm Darren. Ever since Jasmin came in our lives 18 years ago the support the group has given us has been immeasurable and we aim to provide all our families with the same or better advice that we were once given.

Hi I'm Kirsty, my family welcomed Sophie into our lives 20 years ago and at that time we looked for a local support group and that is when we were introduced to DSGN. I then joined the committee about 14 years ago. The social events and trips are memories we will treasure for life.

Hi, I'm Vanessa. When Jasmin was brought into our families lives 18 years ago I was at a loss on where to find support, until I found the DSGN group. I instantly felt like I had the same thoughts and experiences as others and being able to chat to  parents and not feel judged was such a relief.  I have made some wonderful life long friends.

Nicola Stephen

Hi, I'm Nicola. I joined the charity not long after Eve was born and a few years ago became a trustee for the group. The support the charity has given our family has helped us on our journey of having a child with Down Syndrome.

Hi I'm Steve. My fiancee Natalie and I welcomed our beautiful daughter to the world in 2023. We had no idea Verity had Down Syndrome till after she was born and then set about finding out everything about it. When we found the DSGN group we were made to feel instantly welcome and have made connections for life.

Hi I'm Natalie, mum of Verity. We were introduced to DSGN when Verity was born in 2023. We attended our very first honeypots session when Verity was only a few weeks old and found everyone to be so kind and supportive. I hope to be a comfort for any new parents coming to DSGN.

Paul Nash

Hi, I'm Paul.  Being a part of this group has made a huge difference to our family.  The support, shared experiences and friendships really help, and seeing older children and young adults thriving gives us reassurance and encouragement for the future.  Joining the committee felt like a natural way to give something back and help other families feel the same support we've had.

ABOUT US >

The Down Syndrome Group Northamptonshire Charity was set up over 20 years ago by a group of parents who all have children with Down Syndrome.

Our charity has nearly 100 families as members and we see ourselves as a support group for new and existing families and also helping our members with Down Syndrome to live full and rewarding lives.

We hold a monthly group called Honeypots which therapists attend for our younger members from birth to school age to advise on speech & language, occupational therapy & any other concerns. This is a great way to meet new families.

We continually plan outings and events throughout the year, to include day trips, cinema afternoons, summer bbq’s, Christmas parties and the pantomime.
